Locating the absolutely perfect Protection Dog, or Family Companion, is an extemely difficult task. Not all "Levels", "Imports", "Trained", or "Titled" dogs are equal. With an overwhelming increase in so called "BROKERS", "Trainers", and "Importers", we implore our clients to become educated and prepared before making a purchase.
Here are a few things YOU can do to ensure you're dealing with an Honest and Legitimate company, and bringing the Safest, most Trustworthy, Reliable, Healthy, sound Character dog into your Family. Before purchasing a "Trained Protection Dog" or "Import Puppy", please remember to:
1) Ask for copies of their companies Federal & State Business and Operating Licenses.
2) Ask for copies of the potential dogs: training certification paperwork; which documents the official training standards / degree of training achieved.
3) If the "Trainer" or "Broker" does not have an actual Brick+Mortar business facility / location with listed street address readily available, they probably won't when you have questions or need assistance with your dog from them. They may actually be very difficult to locate if a problem arises.
4) Ask for a copy of the business Credit Report. This is readily available for any legitimate Government Contractor / Licensed "Police Dog Trainer".
5) Ask for a copy of the "Owners Credit Report" and "FICO Credit Score". (If they are unwilling to disclose their personal credit rating / report, it very well may be that they have something to hide).
6) ABOVE ALL - VISIT the business / Training Facility you are considering working with, meet at their location for a day or two, see how they interact with their dogs. Spend some time there, if you don't like WHO you are dealing with, don't do business with them... Bringing a Protection or Family Companion Dog into your home and life is a big decision. Invest the time and put forth your due diligence. Your efforts will surely be worth it in the long-run.
